$13

That's how much my fabulous new messenger bag cost.  That and nearly a full day's worth of effort, frustration, and excitement.  It's a little sloppy, my seams are uneven, but nothin is gonna tear that baby apart.  If it's anything, it's durable.  There was a huge sale at JoAnne's, so the most expensive part of the bag was the buttons.  So now I feel the fulfillment of having something I craved, as well as the sense of accomplishment from creating something with my own hands (with a little help from sistahraven ), and let's not forget the avoidance of the empty feeling of having spent ridiculous ammounts of money on an impulse buy.

Hooray for making something yourself! It is SUCH a good feeling to spend a day or two making something useful. I have a purse that I made in ten minutes out of some GIANT wide ribbon (I miss you, Pocono Ribbon Factory!) and a scap of black canvas...I only needed it for that night, and wouldn't you know that I'm still using it, and it's still in one piece!

I think the best compliment to anyone who sews (or creates anything, really!) is "You MADE that?? WOW!"
